Road Side Attractions

Very nice area to explore if you're into history, food, or good motorcycle roads. I really like the Taconic as an alternative to going I-91 & I-84 through Hartford, Waterbury, Danbury to get to West Point.

Ooh I've got to go find that...:laugh

This one is visible from the "Fork in the Road", look for it when you are there.

Considering I live in Rolla, I've decided to do more business here. The guy behind the counter says they're the oldest continually operating business on Route 66, but I'm sure a lot of businesses say that. :ha

Where else can you buy fireworks, corn cob pipes, novelty tshirts and snacks? (Besides WalMart.. :bluduh)

Speaking of Rolla, check this out.

Griggsville, IL. (I think), Purple Martin Capitol of the Nation.

It's an addiction for some people. There is/(was?) a guy in Springfield, MO with a similar setup.

Apparently, the birds don't like anything else near their little houses, so ours has sat vacant for years since a tree grew up next to it. A squirrel has recently been squatting there, though..

If I saw it and the camera didn't, I knew it was time for a break.

Illinois - I forget the name of the town.

Rawlins, Wyoming. This would have been a good car to take my driver's test with, 48 years ago. The three point turn would have been a piece of cake.
