Blackberry Pie Run

Silver City NM is having a very warm December (normally your bike would be hibernating) so I got to take my 1st NM ride. Went North on US 180 to the Alma Cafe for lunch and Blackberry pie :)`

WooHoo... It was cold.

Seemed like a good day to get out today. What with the snow earlier this week and the forecast for later this week, it was now or wait. And with the Eagles not on TV anymore...:whistle

Mid/low 30s but sunny so the roads were dry.

OK, so it was yesterday, not today. Takes time to process pictures. :whistle

For those stuck elsewhere it was 70?? F (or more) on top of Mt Diablo. Lots more pictures of the ride and a route map at http://mwr.snafu.org/2011/0127/

Some decent Weather--finally

Got 66 Degs Sunday and off to Lynchburg TN -- would take a sip of Gentleman Jack, but it's a dry county. PS... quite the Harley Davidson stop

There is another break in the weather here, so it was time to get Rita out for a little exercise. It hasn't snowed for almost a week, so the side roads (they are never plowed) had cleared enough to get to the main roads and the roads outside town have only a few icy and/or slushy spots. It was in the low 40s, beautifully sunny, and the wind was still below 20 mph. I set off for lunch at a little western town 60 miles away.

About halfway there the wind started to come up, which made me think that perhaps 41 degrees is a little chilly - so I turned around. I had hoped to post something more picturesque than a snow fence, but here's where I went today:

Magilla and Linda are visiting the Big Bend for the first time. Today we explored the road to Fort Davis and the McDonald Observatory . . .
