Pass them in convoys or in set in place off the highways typically and never think about the true size...until yesterday parked outside town. It's HUGE.:eek

We have a lot of wind farms near us in Iowa.

It's really interesting to see the rigs that move the blades, towers and turbines.
I stopped at a county road intersection to watch this turbine make the turn. One of the guys in a escort pickup jumped out, got on the back of the trailer and steered the trailer through the intersection.

I did not get a pic, but one time when I was on a ride I stopped at a intersection to watch one of the blades make a tight county road turn. This time the back axles appeared to be steered remotely from a pickup behind the semi.

Before these wind farms go in, the company moves in and widen the the gravel and dirt road intersections. When the work is done they come back and reclaim most of the gravel that was used to widen the intersections.
Because of the concrete volume needed for the tower bases a batch plant is setup in a central location of the wind farm.

I believe this video was taken near Macksburg,Iowa, about 20 miles NE of where we live and where my top photo was taken.

We have a lot of these along the columbia river in the last 10 years. They get here first by boat then by train or trucks , like in your pictures. Too many to count.:wave

Day ride diverted into time with grandkids at the zoo and a short ride.

First day out on the GK yesterday.
Was 38 when left in the morning, and was glad that I now have the heated glove's power harness on that bike too.

Being that temperature, and being the first ride out, and given the schedule, I took the straight direct route into Grand Rapids.

Went into Grand Rapids to BMW dealer to a "R1200RT seminar". (that was interesting, I could write about that too, but not here)

Then was going to head out for an afternoon long ride, but then my son contacted me and said they were also in Grand Rapids, at the zoo, so I diverted over to there to join them.

Was impressed that granddaughter (1 year 9 months old) was being quite observant and really watching things. I got a couple good pics of that.

(5 year old grandson was not in any one place long enough for me to get a good pic)

After that, was about 50 degrees, and I took a long way home from Grand Rapids, thru some orchards, thru some empty field farm land, along a river. Made it into a two hour ride.

So, I traded a day ride for an afternoon with them plus a short ride. Fair trade I think.

OK...ya got me...more accurately scared the crap outta me :eek In the first photo I didn't notice the glass at first.

Tulliver chillin' on his second training ride of this year. We're taking it slow, taking time out for treats, praise, playtime, and socializing. So far he's doing well. We'll work up to some longer rides to see how he tolerates miles.

Yea Tulliver!

No pictures of me on the bike today, however I did make a gas and beer run. A little German beer to go with grilled steak teriyaki and scallops.

Ahh blue blue bells... Blue bonnets? of the hill country of central Texas. Anyway... Texas in the spring on a Beemer. Heaven on earth. When the south east goes spring it turns into a Kinnkade painting... Wessterria, azaleas, dogwoods, redbuds, Bradford pears, bridal wreath... No mountains though. Saw the bluebells of San Antone once when stationed at Hood back in '99.

nothing but blue skies :thumb

If that's the lower overlook of the Big Hill on the River Road, we hate that spot :rofl

If that's the spot, Debbie dropped her K1200RS there and I hurt my back when we tried to pick it up on the slope.
A K1200RS with no bags, on a steep slope with the wheels pointed up, is a challenge to pick up.
We talked to a Harley group that night at the motel and I think they had 4 or five bikes dropped at the overlook where Debbie dropped hers.

That's the spot...gravity often rules here. Have almost, have seen, and have helped bikes that failed to stay upright...all models and ages. I guess the slope plays mind games with parking.

I believe that is a spot H discovered on her HD before my time as well.

The bluebonnets are on their last stand
