We checked out the Freedom Rock today north of Greenfield Iowa.
Each Memorial Day a local artist, Bubba Sorensen, paints new scenes on a large rock at the entrance of a rock quarry to honor vets.

After two days of rain, got some good seat time in.
Follow the western edge of MD into WV and thats about where I was.
I.also have some of those Big Ear plugs. I found that they filter out road noise and the Cicada frequency equally well.

We like NW Iowa. Debbie grew up 40 miles west of Manning in the Loess Hills area.
I rode through Manning during the 2018 RAGBRAI.

I’m sorry about your “misadventure”. Always frustrating to deal with mechanical problems on the road. Glad to see you made it to a hotel.
That’s too bad. At least (it looks) you managed a rescue.
I will be interested in hearing what went on with the engine.

I thought I put the bikes up for the winter several weeks ago.
Around noon the temp was 58F with sunny skies and a forecast high of 69F.
I talked Debbie into a ride to a Mexican restaurant she likes 55 miles north of here.
Temps stayed at 58 but it was still good to get out.
She took her heated jacket liner because the weather reports are wrong sometimes and sometimes I lie about the weather forecast

McDonald Observatory... Voni told me later you can ask nicely inside the visitor center for the okay to ride up. I saw a sign outside the center reading closed that day so didn’t even walk in.
Not sure if this is permanent as we used to ride up to the domes.
