Post your one day ride photo.....

Took the Urals for a late breakfast. Rode over two Continental Divide Passes and did 135 miles. That’s a good day on a Ural.

Took a little ride out to the remains of Fort Cummings (1863 to 1891), https://www.lazykoranch.info/2540-2/. Interesting history for sure. Not much left of the fort these days, but it was nice to see that most people respect the site and the little bits of history that remain were placed on rocks for others to enjoy and ponder.

Theodore Roosevelt NP North Unit

The north unit of this national park has been on fire for several days now with over 3000 acres (including bordering land) burned and still burning. I had to make a run over there yesterday to check it out, it is a sad sight indeed. We are in dire need of moisture. We just had a major fire near the south unit of the park west of Medora which was finally extinguished. This is getting serious.

It has burned right up to the border of Hwy 85.

Here in the Big Bend of Texas we too are super dry. We've been under a Burn Ban since forever. Ride Safe.

Veteran's Memorial: Perryville, MO

Took a day to acquire some Tour of Honor points, and came upon the new Veteran's Memorial in Perryville, MO. This is an exact scale replica of the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial in Washington, DC. The only difference is the Perryville memorial has all the names engraved with laser, hence you cannot use paper and pencil to get a relief-copy of a name. The surface is relatively smooth. The story of the site is that a Vietnam Veteran from Perryville had a harrowing set of experiences, and made a deal if he would ever get back home, he would honor all those that he served with. He has donated 40 acres of his farmland, and they now have the beginnings of a Museum, Information Center, and the current wall. All done through private donations.

The number of names is staggering. It is a real gut-check to become aware of the great sacrifices our Veterans have made for us.
