This looks like the best place for my first BMWMOA post!
Four years ago I transfered with work from Florida to Cumming, GA, just North of Atlanta. My family took a trip with me to the N. Georgia mountains after we settled in, and I immediately told my wife that I had to get a motorcycle. My wife was not crazy about my idea, but she did encourage me to take the MSF course before I purchased my first bike. She and my son now tell me four bikes later that I am a psycho when it comes to motorcycles, hence my screen name Cyclepath. I love all types of riding inluding dirt, touring, or simple short jaunts to the store.
My first bike was a Honda VFR which I recently sold thank goodness without a scratch on it:
This bike will always have a place in my heart. The VFR took good care of me getting through those first couple years of riding. My favorite ride was an Iron Butt ride to New Orleans for lunch on Burboun Street. I also attended the 2007 Winter Rally in Florida with my father on this bike. This was my first BMW Rally which I absolutely loved. I made some great frineds and could not beleive how much I learned about bikes and riding over the course of the weekend. My Dad rides a 1150RT, and is my favorite riding partner. I knew when I left that rally in Florida, I was going to be BMW owner sooner than later.
My father's toy at the Winter Rally:
A little over a year ago I purchased an 08 KLR650. The GS was not in the budget and I was itching to take in some fire roads while adding another horse to the stable. I love this bike! Unfortunately I learned what loose gravel, to much speed, and inexperience can lead to on this baby.
I was wearing all of my gear and fortunately was not hurt. The bike was a total loss, but I picked up red 08KLR that is staying in my garage.
Two weeks ago I sold the VFR and headed to BMW of Atlanta to pick up my dream ride!
I could not be happier with my choice. I named her Georgia! Needless to say, I am looking forward to many rides and adventures. Look forward to meeting many of you around the country over the years to come!
