Tire Pump

Hello all,

Just returned from the local Auto Zone store where I went to get a spoke brush. While I was there, I noticed a "Slime" PowerSports tire pump on sale. This is the small 12V tire pump made for motorcycles or other small tires. Says it will pump to 300 pounds (???!!!) and draws 10 Amps. Obviously us Hexhead guys can't use the BMW outlet (exactly what is that thing good for, anyway?) but this pump comes with battery clips to clip right to the battery. It also comes with a nice small case, wires and connector for a permanent connection to the battey, a cigarette plug, an 8' cord and a short (18") air hose. The case is about 6"x6"x3". It even has an on/off switch.
So, got it home, connected it to the battery, dropped my rear tire pressure to 30# and hooked it to the tire. Run it for about 30 seconds and the pressure was at 37.7 pounds. Seems to work really well....
Now for the good part.... It sells for $29.95 AND HAS A $20 MAIL IN REBATE!!!! So, this thing only costs you $9.95....... Not having done a definitive test on it or anything, I still like it. Hope this helps if you're in the market...

I have one, too, and so far so good. The CO2 provided by BMW is only good for one time. This takes up a little more space, but is much more useful, particularly if you have slow leak and need to pump often to get home.

I tested it on a 4WD, and it gets hot before one tire is aired up from sand pressure, but has been fine on the bike test.

Charging your cell phone. Get a Powerlet socket and wire it to the battery.
