UAE Desert Challenge 2007 is over

    Yes,

Another UAE Desert Challenge is over...

It was a total 5 days desert racing, big challenge and a very big opportunity for teams to know each other and good, real training before Dakar.

So it was damn serious. And unfortunately we couldn't see any BMW around again... I was hoping to see at least two G450X...

Let me post couple of pictures from the race...

    From the bivouac

    Impressive huh ?

Bike category, results for the first 20

Kemal Merkit, the guy on the 19th is my friend... Champion on his category. Big deal, believe me. Look at the list. Damn serious riders around.

Here you go.. One of them, Cyril Despres. End up at the second line.

    Unbelievable guy...

Despres is one of the formers champions in this race. He did 4 times !

    2006 Marc Coma KTM LC4 660

    1995 H. Kinigadner KTM LC4

And this damn handsome guy is Marc Coma

Hey, I'm straight but c'mon... He is the champion of this year.
    He did alright.

    and posed at the podium...

And my friend Lars' friend, Norwegian great racer Ullevalseter finished in 10minutes behind the Coma...

    He's just great.

Let's take a look the Car-Truck class a little too...

There is a reason for that. You see the champion? Yes he Stephane Peterhansel. Former motorcycle racer.

He was also one of the motorcycle champions... Twice..

    1997 S. Peterhansel YAMAHA M3
    1996 S. Peterhansel YAMAHA M3

and of course at the Car Section too...3 times...!

One of the other known faces was the "Matador"

Carlos Sainz did well too. He's getting experience on the desert sand and navigation...

Last year he attended to VW team on Dakar "07 and raced first time on the sand.

Tuareg did the job well too...

and another exciting desert race is behind.. Dakar is on all radar screens right now.

    great post!!!

and yeah, peterhansel made life miserable for everyone in the P-D with that yamaha.

the new F800GS is similar... too bad those bikes are now too big to enter.

do they have different rules for other rally raids?
