k 100 handlebars

Does anyone know if I can put "C" bars on my K100RT?

It would be a tight fit inside the fairing. I've seen it done, but the owner removed the plastic fairing pockets.

I tried it but the bars still hit the fairing. Too bad because I find the "C" bars more confortable than the RT/LT bars. I might try bar backs but I think they would make it almost like having the high bars.
