I finally have my restored R27 home, after it has set for about 5 years on display I feel like I should replace all fluids. My question is what oils should I use? Would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance, Charles

Here's an owner's manual for the era of the R27...this will give you some idea of what to look for....look on Page 35.

I think you'd be fine with the multi-vis oils in use today (10w40 or 20w50), although I'd stick with engine oils that have the SG/SH rating and no higher. As for transmission/shaft oils, I would think a GL5 80w90 oil would be fine. There's been some discussion on the possibility that GL5 could harm the bronze parts in the transmission. There is a GL4 oil out there that could be used instead. Here's one persons discussion on the subject...

You can't really go wrong with what Vech says...you might want to give him a call and let him give you his take on the issues of oils...

I'm sure some R27 owners will provide more related experience...

Gl-4 Only

for transmission, drive shaft and final drive, use GL-4 ONLY
