Does BMW make a california spec bike and a 49 state bike? Like the others makes. Or are all bikes inported made to one specification?
I am looking to fly out to cal and bike a bike. See the left coast then ride the beast home. But I don't want to get a california bike, if there different. I had a cal car a while back and it was hard to get some parts for it out here.
Thanks to all.:deal

AFAIK - all BMWs - bikes, cars, aircraft engines are 50 state legal. The CA specs aren't that different now from the NJ requirements, and it doesn't make a lot of sense to design a specific bike just for one state - especially when you sell so few bikes to begin with.

Don's right, they're all the same. BMW bikes have all met the CA 2008/US EPA 2010 standards since I believe 2004, and the european standards are at least as restrictrive.

Also those going to Canada are the same, but you won't be able to buy one there and bring it back, as BMW won't testify to the EPA that it's US compliant.

Good luck on your purchase and let us know if we can make some suggestions on where to enjoy your new bike in CA!
