Training "Bra"

I really want to learn to handle my bike (K12RS) at low speeds, but really don't want to damage any of the expensive plastic. Does anybody make a strap-on, cushioned bra to go around the engine/tank that can be used to protect the bike in case I push it too far. If not, maybe there is an opportunity here for another product line.
 
:type There are products out there that bolt to the side of the fairings moount that protect in case you go down try J & P or google for some crash guards:banghead :german
 
I am hoping to find some temporary cushion that will protect the bike while I push the envelope during the training sessions. In the "real" world, I try to stay away from the edge of disaster rather than find it. Calling the insurance company, if I screwup during a ride, doesn't bother me, but asking them (and basically everyone that has insurance) to pay for my "education", somehow doesn't seem right. True, I can get permenant crash bars, but I love the look of the bike as she sits. Maybe I'll have to design something myself. Thanks for the input.
 
My next door neighbor is a county motorcycle cop. He rides a Honda ST1300 modified for police use. His bike has these sacrificial plastic/rubber pegs that stick out from the fairing. They are obviously mounted in places where the frame can absorb the weight of impact. They are very unobtrusive, easily replaceable, and can be removed when not needed/wanted. When the bike goes down, the peg takes the abuse and the grinding instead of the bike.

I would think that a part such as this could be made to fit any brand/model of bike. You have to look closely to even see them, so they won't make much of a visual impact on your bike.
 
No structural protection, but about six layers of duct tape would keep the rash at bay.

Citrus cleaner will remove the adhesive.

Keep us posted. Eventually I'll have my RT back together and it'll look nice. I'd like to keep it that way.
 
Fred, thanks. Randy, I'm not sure I'm ready to resort to duct tape, yet.
I'm actually leaning toward trying to fit 4 of the old waterskiing belts (2/side) around the fairing by buckling under the engine and on top of the tank. May have to strap them together fore and aft to keep them from spreading. We'll see. But first, there is a rally to attend and only three days 'til I leave. We'll continue this discussion in person, perhaps.
 
Buy a used Honda cheap and play with that, save the "K" for when you are feeling more comfortable with where the envelope ends and pain begins.
 
Crash sensor

:type :deal Mount two Ford steering wheel air bags from an Escort left & Right sides.
Then set up a crash sensor from an Crown Vic (wrecking yard stuff)
Place an actuation switch on the dash pad, wire up vola Crash guards.:bottle :bottle :bottle :stick No wait to much Teacher's Scotch tonight :drink
 
personal airbags

mrich, I tried replacing the armor pads in my riding suit with salvaged airbags from a Crown Vic (Ford). To test, I ran headlong into the garage wall. For the next ten seconds, I bounced back and forth inside the garage as the sensors activated the different pads. Next time, I'll put the helmet on. See you in WB.
