swing arm bearing puller?

Where do find a small slide hammer knife type?

I rented one but it was too big...seems it was meant for wheel bearings, pulling dents.

Thanks,
Andy

I just changed out the bearings on my 94 RS swingarm to the JL Paralever bushings.

Since I have a large assortment of sockets (that can happen after 30+ years of tinkering) I just found the socket with the appropriate OD to fit the outer bearing race. Then I just used an extension into the socket and a hammer to tap, tap, tap the bearing out of the swingarm recess.

If you go to a more professional auto supply shop they may have a specific bearing puller for the job. Though I'd bet its not cheap.

I don't know the specific application you're using one for, but I don't use a puller. I use a long drift (18") that I bought at a machine tool store. Once I get the pivot out of the way, the drift fits in from the opposite side and a little heat and a few gentle taps in a star pattern and the race falls right out.

(be careful on the first few taps, you don't want to get the race crooked at all, then it takes harder "taps" and it could damage the frame where the race sits.)
