On Saturday my 99RT 1100 was puring along at 40 in 3rd and it just stopped running. Like some body turned a switch off. I have power, I can hear the fuel pump working, the engine turns over when I hit the starter. but nothing.... Its sitting in Port Clinton waiting for the dealer to start my tab and lay hands on it. Any hypothesises on whats wrong?

PS The Tank is full of Gas... I made that mistake when I was 16 but that is another embarrassing story.

You did the first thing: see if the fuel pumps working. If youve got a fuel pump, remove an injector and crank the engine. If you have fuel test the ignition system. See if you have a spark at the plug. If not check the sidestand/clutch switch. Check the ignition coil for function. Check the Hall sensor at the alternator belt pulley.

stopped dead

If you haven't changed your fuel filter in a while, you might look there!

I've asked that same question a few times.

Now if it were an airhead, I could tell you exactly what failed in under 2 minutes.
