I donÔÇÖt know how I got started on this, but IÔÇÖve been writing some Haiku lately, except that itÔÇÖs about motorcycles so with apologies to real poets I'll call it ÔÇÿBaiku.ÔÇÖ

Haiku is a form of traditional Japanese poetry that has 3 verses ÔÇô first 5 then 7 then 5 syllables. GÔÇÖhead ÔÇô try it.

Self-sufficiency
Is why riding is for me
We are an island

Blocking the left lane
A fat boy on a Fatboy
I just donÔÇÖt get it

Riding is a way
To find who I might be
In another time

Stupid piece of crap
What the hell is it this time?
I want a new bike

A clot of Harleys
Watch as I pass you all
Wish you could lean over

Big fat slow beemer
CBR tries to lose me
I wave as I pass

Saddlebags are big
Until I pack my clothing
Now I want a trunk

Rally camping now
Wake with a sore back again
Hotel looks more fun

Smelly naked guys
Nowhere to point my eyeballs
Communal shower sucks

Beer tent open late
I stumble back to my tent
What was I thinking?

Valve cover comes off
Valves adjusted one more time
Bike runs smooth again

Bike rolls to a stop
Dead battery or something?
Fuel was not turned on

Oh man. This is fun.....

Zipping past mountains
I do hope to live here soon
The beauty of it.

Tall peaks dressed in white
spruce and balsam fill the air
I love Idaho

Twisty fast corners
this road traces the Salmon
three more years till heaven,here!

BMW
Rich the flatlander - Hi and
good evening Captain!

Wow they really do
Cook at the table. Is there
Any dog in that?

Sorry.

BatBike runs hard now.
Horizon to horizon.
How big is TexSux?

Pulled over again.
Hope you enjoy your new jail.
Up yours officer.

Forgot camera.
Can't put pictures on website.
I really did ride.

No GPS here.
Got no steenkin' ABS.
I think Airheads rule!

Paraphrased from my site:
From http://www.bradfordbenn.com/beemer/haiku.htm

So when I was at Bob's BMW I purchased the Moto Magnet set. Since then Jennifer and I have been having fun setting up various phrases on the refrigerator, dare I say new age Haiku. I have both typed them as well as keeping the picture of the magnets on the fridge. Warning some of these are a little suggestive... kids do not look.

Here is a sample:

never lost
have tour
roared curves
twisties free

the RPM's sing
instruments accelerate
he grin

Then for something with a little sexual inneundo... click here Warning, if you are offended by sexual inneundo, don't click

There are more up on the site.

Dissed again by a
Non-waving motorcyclist
Your bike is ugly

Vibration in mirrors
Squirrely handling in curve
Radials cupped again

Warning sign
Dangerous Curves ahead
Excellent Ride

Hope these qualify :p

you asked for it...

Too much ice to ride
Coffee and Baiku instead
Later switch to beer

Miss "Two Wheel Tuesday"
Used to see racing all night
Fox Speed Channel sucks.

Dog says "quit pacing
Why don't you go for a ride?"
Who taught dog to talk?

Snow still falling hard
Radio says many wrecks
OldCarKook is nuts

Coffee and Baiku
No substitute for real thing
Might switch to beer now

Brad, do have a better picture of that poem? Just too damn fuzzy to read. And yes I have good sharp young eyes. I could make out about 3/4 of it...

In honor of my bike which is currently residing in the living room/kitchen/dining room of my one bedroom apartment:

Bike in apartment
Keeps toasty warm for the Spring
Bye kitchen table

Brrr it's cold outside
Even my Gerbing not warm
Winter can blow me

Lady and gentlemen

I remove my helmet in honor of your terrifically twisted word play. To further salute, I offer this:

Am honored to read
Baiku from all these people
Bike riders are best.
