"Best" mesh jacket?

Tour Master Flex

I purchased the Tour Master Flex at the beginning of the season. Prior to this I had a Vanson Cobra which I really did not enjoy.

The Flex appealed to me since it is "modular" in the sense that it is a 3-1/2 season jacket.

It has an inner linner, a water proof inner liner and the otside panels can be unzipped making it a semi-mesh. The thing I realy like is when it is converted to a semi-mesh, the elbows and shoulders remain protected by light armor and nylon.

Joe Rocket also makes a similar 3-in-1 jacket and they are all under $200.

First Gear Mesh Tex- good quality-priced right. I'm 5'11" 190 lbs. XL fits.

The zipper on my First Gear Mesh Tex broke early, was repaired, and then broke again. I now also have the Cortech GX Air, and I love it. I believe the armor is much higher quality, and it actually has leather in the shoulders and elbows. It has equal airflow, IMHO, to the First Gear.

I've had the Olympia Airglide jacket and pants for almost three years now with NO problems. Easy to wash (yes, I actually washed it) and it's super breezy when on the road. WHen tooling down the road it actually feels like you are in a T-Shirt and shorts, you kinda forget you even have it on.

I actually wear mine all 4 seasons without heated gear. The liner is THAT good. With the liner it is kind of heavy, but it is WARM, and cuts the wind.

This statement also applies to my Cycleport Mesh Kevlar jacket and riding pants. I've only ridden it down to about 30F but it is warm with the liners and electrics.

The jacket is not as cool as my Joe Rocket mesh jacket, but then again it has far more armour buiilt into it than the Joe's, as well as a pocket for my 2 litre camel pak.

Yes, I would buy another when the this one needs replacing (which I don't see happening in the near future.)

The downside is that the suit is custom made to fit your body and therefore Cycleport requires that orders be placed 12 weeks in advance.

I have the Olympia Bushwacker jacket and Airglide 2 pants and have about 18 months and 15K miles on them. Couldn't be happier. I've been comfortable in 105 and 25. The liners are warm and waterproof. Lots of great pockets and adjustments.

For really hot weather look at Vanson Leather vent 3. If you can be cool it will be in this jacket. Love mine

I had a few different mesh jackets but when I bought my BMW Rallye jacket I stopped wearing the mesh jackets. It vents so well with the long zippers in the sleeves I never felt the mesh would be any better and I did a 3500 mile ride last year during the heatwave, over a week riding in 100+ degree temps:hungover

Take a look at Vanson mesh jacket, it is very nice here in Florida, elbow, shoulder, and back armor included.

I've been looking at the Olympia stuff at the local dealer. While I really like the Venting Machine from BMW, the price is not where the Olympia is - in my range.

On a related subject, anybody know if there are any studies done on Hi Viz motorcycle clothing and if it is affective to prevent accidents? In my search, I have come to the conclusion that I will be getting Hi Viz but I have that little demon in my mind saying it will make me look dorky and provide no benefit. Dorky aside, I just want to be safe and ride and ride and ride and ..... you get the point.

The newest BMW offering is the "Comfort Shell" I think it is called. It has a membrane created by Swiss textile specialist Schoeller which breaths freely when it is warm out and closes up when it is cool. It is WATERPROOF. I can attest to that. I wore it the first time in the rain, and I also felt the air coming thru more than ever felt with the GoreTex bonded cordura suits. They liken the membrane to how a pine cone reacts to temperature where the leaves spread out with heat and close up with cold. The jackets and pants come in all numbered sizes. The woman's suit is cut for a woman with a shapely waist and a slight flare out over the hips.
The armor in this suit is the latest with the back pad wrapping around the kidney area, light and flexible, The elbow pads cover the fore arm, and the shoulder pads cover the collar bone. The pants come with hip armor installed and the knee armor extends down over the shin area. The jacket and pants have waterproof zippered pockets as well as two inside pockets in the jacket. Truly the best spring, summer, fall suit so far...
