I just bought a 2002 with approx 7,000 miles. I need to winterize it for storage until March, can anyone give me tips? Any other tips welcome.

Also, I am concerned that the bike comes off it's center stand too easily, is there an adjustment to improve stability?

Thanks for your answers, I look forward to being a future contributor.

A simple solution is to put some kind of tie from the centerstand to the front wheel.

You bet:

Take it for a ride and fill the tank.

Change the oil so you have fresh oil in it. Used oil contains acids.

Top up the battery with distilled water.

Make sure the tires are properly inflated. Put a rag in the opening for the airbox to keep mice out.

Like Knary said, you can use a strap to keep the centerstand down.

In the spring, change the oil again (it'll probably have condensation accumulated in it), take the rag out and disconnect the battery charger/tender. Check your tire pressure and take that baby for a ride!

The only thing else I can think of, is to put a gas preservative in the tank. Leave gas in the tank for a long period of time and it will turn to varnish
It is 10:30 pm here and I am drawing a complete blank on the brand name :dunno Sorry for that:snore :snore
I can see the bottle in front of me and the fluid is red in color  :help
You can get it at Autozone etc, just follow the instructions
All the best.
