Laminar Lip-revisit

I checked the archive and saw some info. on the Laminar Lip, but was wondering if there has been more experiance with it in the last year or 2, specifically on a 2001 or older K1200RS? I would like to get the wind noise over me and reduce buffeting, but don't like the look of some of the larger aftermarket wind screens. Any comments are appreciated.

I don't have experience with your specific application, but I've found that the laminar lip does smooth out the buffeting. Wind noise can be as much a function of the helmet fit/design as of the windscreen.

I added a Laminar Lip to the comfort shield for my 2003 K1200RS. It feels like the windscreen is about 3 inches taller. It is quieter... less buffeting. I can ride with my face shield open at super slab speeds. Surprisingly, I found myself riding with the windshield in the low position more often. Very few bugs on the helmet faceshield. It is definitely effective.

Would I recommend it? If you already have the comfort shield, yes. I also have a stock smoked windshield that I use during "high summer." I'm curious about how a lip would work on that, but not curious enough to part with the $. Sorry if this is not relevent for the pre 01 RSs. My $.02.

On what you are trying to improve. I wanted the windstream to move further up, over my head. I'm 6'4 and ride well above the shield in the high position. The Lip reduced the buffeting to a nominal level but didn't eliminate it. I still get wind at the top of the helmet despite mounting the lip with the screws they offer as high on the shield as possible.

Considering new screens are $300 and up, the $70 lip is a reasonable alternative.

I have about 4k on my lip and I'm pretty pleased with the investment.

I'm only 5'10", I have a stock shield, and usually keep it in the lower position, as when I raise it the wind is right at the top of my helmet, increasing the buffeting and noise. I do have a spare windshield, so I think I'll give it a try and see how it goes. I can always put the spare shield on if I don't like it. Thanks for the input everyone.
