help with surging 1999 r1100s

1999 r1100s - runs strong however slight surging 1500 to say 2500 rpm
I remember reading about a surging problem - is there a good fix for this?
Fuel filter, plugs, air filter all new - as I said it runs just fine and strong outside that rpm range - appreciate any help

Some have made the surging "better" buy adjusting the valves, a proper throttle body sync and a tps setting.
BUT you can totally eliminate it in MOST cases with this www.techlusion.us/index.htm.
This is my personal experience and from many others I have talked to over the years.

The best way to test this is lock your throttle at 2000 + or - and notice its impossible to keep it steady. Then with the techlusion properly installed try the same test and WOW a steady throttle.

The cheap fix is to use more RPM. R-bikes don't like to run below about 3000 RPM. Traditional "surging" is a mid RPM thing, usually when cruising with a small throttle opening at moderate (i.e. speed limit) highway speeds.

Wander over to Advrider.com and find the link to Wisdom at the bottom of the page. Pull down OVAD and the Throttle Body Adjustment for Dummies docs. Do them both and live surge free.

I had a 99S and when it surged it was a sign it needed a valve adjustment.

The techlusion worked for me on my 1100rt. I did try "all of the above other things" before spenting the money. The autolite plugs do tend to seem smoother than the stockers with the "lussion" installed. Mine's just real sensitive to TBS.

On my '96 RS, zero the throttle position sensor, good valve adjustment followed by a good TB synch and Autolite plugs. No more surge. Also consider regular unleaded vs. premium as the premium tends to run a little leaner. Here in Phoenix with temps over 110, I still have no problem with detonation.

Just a question here as I am considering a used oiler to replace the K75.

Can someone link what you are using for the throttle body synch and give an idea about how much it costs. I tend to do my own work as I am frequently no where near a dealer.

I use an old mercury manometer. I've had it for 10 or 15 years, having originally purchased it to balance the carbs on my R100RS.

I'm not exactly an accomplished wrencher but I bought a Twinmax for about $80 and (probably) paid for it with my first TBS. Was very easy, took maybe 5 minutes not counting the time to remove and reinstall the tupperware. Removal of the tupperware was necessary for the valve adjustment I did prior to the TBS.

I spoke to my specialist, Dave Anderson of Anderwerks, about installing a Techlusion to cure the surge on my 1150 and he said: "There's no Techlusion going into that bike, just bring it in and we'll deal with it." Well I just had the post summer service done, and no more surge; it runs like a turbine.
