A fine garage patina like that takes time.gnavecky said:It was in a garage for 15+ years, the last 5 heated...

If I am going to rebuild this bike I only wanted to do it once....My problem was I wanted to do the rebuild and do the whole bike the first time. I thought about doing a little at a time..It would have been years before it was finished or not at all...
DOINTHETON said:bought this one off the ibmwr website, $2250.00, which i thoght was a great price for a decent /5. 1972, 37990 miles, starts, runs, rides great. all electrics work, neat bike. this was in "as bought" condition with no cleaning, rinse off, or anything. was having too much fun riding it!

phil said:Happich..Simichrome polish..I purchased it at a local Harley dealer. Before I used the polish I used Simple green and WD-40 and alot of elbow grease. I was told to keep it looking new to use WD-40. Simichrome is a soft polish used to clean aluminum, chrome and silver. This also made my front rim look brand new. I had to replace my rear rim due to a crack.
KBasa said:OK, cool. What'd you use? A brass brush or something?
That's cool to see. Thanks!

I completed my R60/5 project this past Spring but, after seeing what you are doing with your cases/aluminum parts, I'm thinking I may need to redo some of my aluminum parts surfaces.
Your project looks great! Keep it going!
More pics please.
bigfoot..Please post a pic of your R60/5. If I remember right I PMed you about your backrest.
