Question 2011 RT - sidecase outer panel removal help please!

I'm hoping someone has experience removing the outer panel of the sidecases. Just to clarify, I want to remove the colored panel from the outer case assembly. I checked Bob's BMW fiche seeing if I could figure out how they're attached, but no luck.

I would greatly appreciate any advice.

    Thanks in advance,
    Daryl

Are you talking about the "impact protection strips" that attach to the bottom of the sidecase lids? If so, they are held on with double-sided body tape:

If I had to remove them I'd VERY CAREFULLY use a heat gun on low setting to soften the adhesive, then use dental floss to 'saw' the panels off. This may take a bit of time...and caution...so you don't melt any of the plastic.

If you're referring to the entire case LID, there are hinges at the bottom of the pannier that are removable and that's pretty easy to do.

I'm talking about the whole outer panel. The panel they those pieces adhere to.
