1978 r100rs won't start

The only odd thing about these carbs is the the idle mixture screw is located inside the float bowl making adjustment during running impossible. Makes no sense to me

Yeah, makes no sense. Never heard such a thing. Maybe the item you're looking at isn't really a mixture screw??? It has to be on the outside.

Idle mixture is the big silver screw with its slot shown "horizontal"... on the outside, underneath, inboard of the throttle return spring.

Old age does things like this. I am surprised the bike ran last season with so much messed up in the carbs. St.

I'm equally surprised. It's weird how things like this will happen while just sitting. Thanks everyone for your help. Don't ask me what what I was thinking or saw but the idle mixture screw was right where it was supposed to be when I looked this morning LOL. Duh!
