R1250RS - Darned clumsy fingers! Question....

Ok. So, after a frustrating day, I figured I would take the nav prep off my new 1250RS. All was going well until I was trying to route a replacement zip tie through one of the frame mounted zip tie clamps. It was the only frame mounted clamp in the nav wire routing.

Anyhow, that is a bit of a tight area and I was using a plastic halberd spudger to try and loop the tie around the wires. Well, I lost grip of it and it fell into the area circled in this photo.

I heard it drop a short distance but can't see it from the top or the side. Best I can figure, it's somewhere on top of the motor in the middle of the frame/airbox/radiator area. I've checked all angles available and don't see it. Prodding around with other tools does not seem to indicate where it is. I know it didn't make it to the floor. I ordered a cheap scope to look in there a bit, but am curious if anybody has other advice before I cave and start trying to figure out how to take more of this thing apart.

    Ugh.

    Is it metal?

If it's metal take telescoping magnet and try and fish it out with that.

Thanks. It's plastic, but I was able to get at it by removing the left side faring. All is well now.

I was going to suggest dropping the motor.

Glad you retrieved it. Dropping a small tool, nut or bolt into the nether regions of a bike is something I'm sure we've all done.

I have taken am air nozzle and blasted air in the general area and often the part will go flying out and roll under some other piece of equipment in the shop, never to be seen again!
