    R27 speedometer repair

I am replacing the chrome bezel (chrome trim ring ) on my R27. I have the new ring fitted on the speedo but I don’t know how to keep it in place. The original one was held in place by the bottom edge rolled in to catch under the edge of the top of the housing.
Any ideas would be appreciated !

    Thanks, Will

Welcome to the forum, Will! Since this is not a forum software issue, a moderator will move this soon to the Vintage area of the forum.

    Edited...I was thinking headlight!

Unless I’m mistaken, which happens frequently, the issue is the chrome bezel on the speedometer, not the headlight.

I think that’s a typical crimped-on ring and I know of no way to properly seat and seal them than sending the instruments to a speedo shop that has the required equipment to do that crimp. I’ve had good results from Foreign Speedo in San Diego.

Here's a couple of links to the Vintage BMW forum. One is not for a speedometer, but there's info on process/technique:

    Hi Will:

Over the years, I've used two West Speedo shops for work on classic Porsches, VWs and BMW bikes. Both are excellent, although not cheap. One is Palo Alto Speedo, and the other is North Hollywood.
