AL 4th Friday Airhead Ride2Eat

A group of “North Alabama Vintage BMW Riders” agreed to a Vintage ride to Big Bob Gibson’s BBQ in Decatur for a low-key Friday lunch. We had five Airheads ride from Murphy’s Gas on the South Parkway at 1000. Alan led the group on ~35 miles of secondary roads, but first we rode south on US-231 to get across the wide Tennessee River. Then it was all 2-lane roads toward Decatur where we met up with three more N. AL Vintage BMW bikers {one on his newer GS since his Airhead wouldn’t start}. We had 7 BMWs aged between my 1975 R90S to the 1984 R100 series.

Everyone enjoyed the succulent BBQ - most had pulled pork sandwiches, but Alan had chicken while I enjoyed a 4 dry-rubbed short rib platter. T’was a beautiful day to ride, with temps around 70 at 1000 and nr 80 upon the return home. Après lunch, we rode the six miles west to Frank’s home for some homemade banana pudding {which everyone thoroughly enjoyed}. It was a short-notice Ride to Eat, but what a great way to start our first Autumn weekend as shown below!

It isn't rude when you are in the witness protection program. :)

That’s the chump at the end of the table while eating out on The Square in HSV on a Tuesday in late June...
He’s definitely living on another Planet in some other solar system...
