Replacement Side Cover retaining finger / clamps ;
made from the snap clamp off air cleaner of many of cars , probably Celica here .
Cant leave a boneyard without finding a good springy steel shapes quite close in shape to replace a lost OE clip.
Clamping for weld was the hard part, odd joint. Used spacers wedges clamps etc.
Need to assure the base end of the new (thin) finger is tightly against the (very cleaned, much thicker gauge) frame tube to allow the welding to join quickly,
and the curvature of the clip presents a little issue. Folded up cardstock was used to pack the space to hold the spacer in position.
Bike was missing couple retainers, so tacked on a a few extras to allow for future breaks.
Still need to carve some notches on the side cover where the new clips are located, similar to the original recess/ notches on cover.
3 air cleaner clips + 1 original.
Not very much weldment holding the retainers, and not much of a welder trying repair the breaks ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯
If you need to bend them a bit to adjust after install, its best to clamp on the base of the retainer to the frame tube, to avoid straining / breaking those tiny tacks
