Got several invitations/reminders for all y’all:

We pre-rode the August MOAL 2nd Saturday Ride-2-Eat successfully yesterday (OK, it was a little warm). Left from Murphy’s gas station on S. Memorial Parkway @0915. Stopped for a wee pee @1055; arrived at Alabama's famous Bright Star Restaurant @1150. Had a nice luncheon selection which was served quite quickly. I enjoyed the fresh pan-seared salmon with three sides {a substantial portion for $14.95}. The club secretary enjoyed her four vegetable plate for $10.95.
Here’s hoping this invitation will attract some interested riders (or drivers) from the SEC region on the 2nd Saturday of August; we’ll try to sit down to lunch at Noon. >> https://thebrightstar.com <<
RSVPs before 12 August to el Presidente would be appreciated in order to coordinate seating arrangements in this splendid up-scale establishment!

The Georgia BMW Riders are hosting a new Mountain Sky Rally on August 18-20, 2022. Register at their Website: Mountain Sky Rally

The Derby City Beemers Club of Louisville, KY is now hosting their BMW MOA Kentucky State Rally on September 9-11 at the Pine Mountain State Resort Park in Pineville, KY. This event was formerly known as the Pine Mountain MOA Getaway. It is important that anyone wishing to book lodging at the Pine Mountain State Park needs to call them directly at 606-337-3066. They say their KY Rally info is on the MOA Event’s page: https://www.bmwmoa.org/events/EventDetails.aspx?id=1613987&group=

The MOAL folks have been invited to ride with the GA BMW Riders club for a full weekend of riding at Two Wheels of Suches on Sept 16-18. They’ll be Adventure bike riding groups, and as always, asphalt oriented riding groups. Likely the cabins are gone by now, so you should inquire about camping space. >> https://twowheelsofsuches.com <<
That neighborhood has some wonderful backroads to explore! And don’t bypass the Brasstown Pharmacy Drug & Gun emporium for a most interesting shopping opportunity. It’s just a very quick ride up Wolf Pen Gap road to Blairsville, GA!

Lastly, a reminder that the BMW Riders Association annual rally is scheduled at last year’s event fairgrounds in Waynesville, NC for Sept 29-Oct 2.

Be safe & be seen out there in the wild wild wilderness of byway traveling.

Eight intrepid bikers from north Alabama joined el Poobah and la Secretary on the MOAL’s August 2nd Saturday Ride-2-Eat to the Bright Star Restaurant in Bessemer, AL. I believe the contingent from Huntsville enjoyed themselves both headed south on my crooked route {mostly obeying the speed limits} as well as the return north. Once again, Jim McCorstin earns special recognition for appearing on-time at the Blue Plate Cafe {having departed Birmingham o’dark early} just to ride south on my meandering route of some 115 miles of generally non-highway bitumen. The whole point of our visit to Bessemer was to entice the central AL members to get out of their houses and onto their BMWs. Guess I needn’t worry about that segment of the club going forward.

A few of our lunch selections included: Greek style Chicken Breast, Greek style Snapper Throats, and pan-fried Salmon or Red Snapper. There were also some impressive salads and desserts! Karen’s chum, Karen, ordered the seasonal Peach Shortcake for “afters.” Guess it was good because nobody else got a spoonful. Alan seemed to swoon over his Coconut Custard pie, as did Bill with his Chocolate-Almond pie. Can you even imagine a gigantic sweet dessert after a healthy portion of delicious seafood or chicken? Neither can I…

Sept’s R2E will be to the Honda dealer’s M/C showroom at Lake Hill Motors in Corinth, MS with a lunch stop around noon along US 72 in Corinth (after I recon the exact restaurant - anyone enjoyed a Slugburger lately)? Be there or be square…

I had planned to be there -- but ended up leading a tour at Barber's Saturday. Oh, well, there's always another day/time!
