PR6 GT Tire noise.

I put Michelin PR 6 GT's on my '15 RT a short while ago, and they are so noisy that I thought my final drive and/or drive shaft were failing. Anybody else experiencing this?

I just put a pair on my K1600. I am not noticing that. If your old tires were extremely bald, you may just be noticing what tread sounds like ?

About 1500 +/- miles on a set. Haven't noticed anything abnormal.

Seems to be quite a few noisy tires on the market. Had a new F850GS, took 4k miles of wear to get them somewhat quiet.

I have 5,000 km on my set of Road 6 GT's and the tires (especially the front) are extremely loud until about 120 km/h when the wind noise finally overcomes the whirr and whine of these tires. Not complaining, but the Road 5's didn't make this much racket. Otherwise, heavy rain, light rain, damp road or dry they have been great tires.

Is it possible that this noisiness is related to the direction the tire was mounted? Just a thought.

They are mounted in the correct direction, and they are new. Also the noise goes away at 80mph. I just need to ride at that speed all the time.:whistle

Mine make a surprising amount of tire whine noise as well.
I hear the front one at mid range speeds more then the rear especially if the screen is adjusted to minimize wind flow and wind noise gets quieter. Now I expect it and am no longer looking for what is wrong and making noise. Otherwise they seem to be a pretty good tire for the way I ride this bike.
