I recently encountered a starting problem on my 2014 K-1300S. This happened twice in two weeks. On both occasions, I had be stuck in very heavy and slow traffic in 80+ degree weather. On the first occasion, the bike stalled and the starter began to turn the engine and then stopped cold. On the second attempt, it started, but barely. On the second occasion, I had stopped for gas, the bike would not start. As before, the starter engaged and began to turn the engine slightly, but almost immediately acted like it was blocked. Eventually, I was able to get running with a push start, but when I "popped" the clutch, I felt a heavy load, and the engine felt like it was being blocked, and the bike would not move. As second attempt got it started, but still it felt harder than usual. On the rest of the ride, I could shut the engine off and restart it without problem.
Now before you jump to conclusions, the bike was serviced before the start of the season. I had brought it in to the dealer with failure to start problem - press the starter button and nothing. The dealer checked the battery (as did I) and it was fine. He found some corrosion on the wire going to the starter and cleaned it up. Two dealership had previously ruled out a problem with the switchgear.
Any thoughts? It felt to me like something (vapor?) was blocking the engine.
