Oilhead Mechanic Recommendations in Eastern Washington

I just relocated from Texas to Eastern Washington. I ride a '99 R1100S, and am wondering who's the best mechanic in the Walla Walla/Tri-Cities area for Oilhead BMWs. I greatly appreciate your recommendations! Thank you.

Gustavo

A long ways from you, but Riley in Santa Clara (Eugene) is really good at Oilheads. Long drive, 541-995-4832 or cell 541-797-3694

I highly recommend Steve Prokop in Dundee, Oregon. He's been in Dundee for quite a few years now. Only negative is having to drive through Portland to get to Dundee. You might also contact Hansen's BMW in Medford, Oregon which is easy to get to from the Tri-Cities. Just cruise down US97 to Klamath Falls then over the Green Springs to Ashland then a few miles north to Medford. Hansen was burned out several years ago but has opened a new shop in Medford. Craig, imo, was the only BMW dealer worth going to in OR since 1975. Only thing bad about US97 is you have to go through Bend which has become a zoo in recent years no thanks to the huge in migration from that golden state of mind to the south of OR. Grrrrrrr..... There is also a new BMW dealer in Eugene which is closer to you but I have no experience with them. I do all my own work on my '93 R1100RSL and have never taken it to a dealer and will avoid ever doing so if possible. If I ever have a final drive or transmission issue I'll remove same and use UPS.

Thank you so much for these recommendations. Very helpful and much appreciated. I like to avoid dealers as well, if possible. I do as much general maintenance as possible myself, but some projects are too big. However, I just had a new clutch installed by a great mechanic in Austin recently. Along the the clutch, he addressed several other things he found along the way. It feels like the bike is in great condition now and that pretty much half of the bike is new. I shouldn't have any issues for a quite a while, but just want to know who's out there should something come up. I rode 2000 miles from Texas to Washington last week and the bike ran beautifully.

Thank you again everyone!
