Beware of MotoComposites

I wanted to accent my K1300S w/ some carbon pieces and purchased the battery cover and the tank insert from Motocomposites. The tank insert fits fine but the battery cover is manufactured incorrectly and is way too small and you can see the fuel overflow line through the large gap between the cover and the tank sides. I emailed them w/ pictures of the bad part and their response is "its within spec."

Look elsewhere if you want quality carbon parts because after looking at their reviews, apparently they don't care if their parts fit or not. A lot of bad reviews.

The Bestem carbon fiber battery cover was a little small like yours on both of or K1300S bikes.

On my wife's R1250RS I bought fairing trim pieces and battery side covers from MotoComposites. Quality looked ok on the four pieces.
Fit was very good on the fairing pieces. I have not put the battery side covers on.
I'll probably order the same pieces for my RS.

It's disappointing MotoComposit will not take the part back.
The website shows you can return parts with the customer paying the shipping.

llmbeger in Germany is about the only carbon fiber company I can think of that rarely gets complaints.

I have ordered numerous pieces, for multiple motorcycles, from Motocomposites and have been totally satisfied with their products. Conversely, I have been disappointed with accessory carbon pieces provided by the manufacturer of a particular motorcycle manufacturer. To my eyes that battery cover isn't "way too small".

Out of curiosity, what functions do these composite pieces serve or improve? Or is their purpose cosmetic?

For me and most people it's strictly for looks.
The pieces I have bought in the past replaced unpainted black plastic pieces.
I always buy gloss carbon fiber.

I added a lot of carbon pieces to our K1300S. MotoComposites was the only company offering all of the panels I was wanting to replace. They were out of one particular piece but offered a similar part at no extra costs. (Carbon pieces can be carbon/fiberglass or 100% carbon). I was extremely satisfied with their customer service and quality of components.

I didn't realize your stuff is MotoComposites. All of your carbon fiber looks very good.
