FWIW, if you're inclined to hotels book the Tapoca Inn which is close by. Nice spot and a limited number of rooms.
A few of us from the BMW Tarheel Travelers in NC are headed up. Anyone else?

Planning to meet another buddy at Louise's rockhouse Friday around 8:30-8:45am for breakfast - then we are going to cruise the parkway (226A, 80) and then hopefully lunch at the NOC around 1:30?
I'll be in Old Fort Thursday evening and will be eating at Hillman's in Old Fort if anyone wants to join for dinner and a pint

Thanks to Vance, Mari & their assistants for arranging a Wonderful Weekend Getaway in Fontana, NC!
We attended the Friday social & Dinner that Vance said had about 180 people registered {w/several “late comers”}
Friday’s meal was sliced pork loin and roast beef, twice-baked potato halves, beans, salad + mixed fruit cobbler.
Sat’s dinner was of course a baked chicken selection & nicely browned cut of beef w/mashed spuds & Caesar salad + cheesecake.
Team-HSV arrived Thursday. Here’s Mrs-HSV riding the Dragon from Vonore on US-411 to Fontana on a very sunny afternoon.

We CoddiWompled our way to the Post Office down the hill from our “Cabana” lodge room [0.2 mi] on Friday morning.

We then headed to Robbinsville for breakfast at the Southern Gals Family Restaurant {and another P.O. photo}
and then wandered west toward the Tellico Plains P.O. across the Scenic Cherohala Skyway {view northward}.

We attempted to ride up to a peak further along the skyway, but what looked like a road in Garmin was just a hiking trail.
Took a picture of some Carolina BMW riders who had beat us to the small parking lot near Huckleberry Peak [>5K’ elev].

Further along, we lunched in Maryville, TN at Lambert’s Southern Pies (with a modest selection of tasty sandwiches).
We proceeded east to the Foothills Parkway before riding south. However, due to an extended paving project, all vehicles must
detour down Butterfly Gap Road [ N35° 38.132' W83° 56.280’ ] before continuing south along scenic Happy Valley Road.
The detour worked out to be much more technical than an easy jaunt along the Foothills Parkway (closed thru May).
When we joined up with the Dragon again, we tested our endurance over to the Deal’s Gap M/C Resort & souvenir store.

Mrs Karen is depicted having parked her R12RS just beside the Tree of Shame...

The club president, Reece Mullins, made presentations to two hard-working MOA volunteers after Friday’s supper.
He first presented Jennifer Ott with her Ambassador certificate for years of contributions to club activities.
She even delivered a new BMW R1250RT from her place of work at BMW Motorcycles of Detroit in their truck to some
lucky individual attending the Fontana Getaway after many years of excused absences... -
Reece next recognized former BoD member Wes Fitzer for his efforts over many years. {my brain then awoke to take a photo}

Team-HSV made another CoddiWomple stop on Sat AM at the Almond, NC P.O. before riding to the Wunderlich Open House.
Had a nice visit and a German Brat - took this photo of a pretty R90 Replica Racing Bike constructed by Wunderlich!

Whilst “in the neighborhood,” we made a mandatory pit-stop at a World Famous Brewery in nearby Mills River. -

Every Getaway presents opportunities to see old friends and to make new ones. I may have interested
a couple of warm bodies into joining the AlaBeemers, CC-05, now celebrating our 51st year...
The Grand Poobah and Mdm Secretary both won some practical door prizes at the end of the evening!
Thanks to Vance & Mari for their continuing support of so many MOA functions!
Happy Trails whenever U can - Ciao!
