Hello from OBX/Virginia Beach,
I have had lots of bikes and this is my first Beemer. After happily having owning many Bimmers I always wanted to try one. I decided on an F 850 GS Adventure to go out on the 4x4 area in Corova OBX. I'm super excited in antipation on how much mun it should be on the beach and the off the grid roads in the back. Also looking into exploring some of the Hatfield- MCcoy Trails. Never made it there when we had dirt bikes, so its definatley on the bucket list.

Welcome ELMER FUDD! :wave

Hope you'll be very happy with your selection; that version of BMW will take you anywhere you're prepared to go {as long as you mount the right kind of tires!} Check out the Heidenau Scout series when you want some good performance on the highway and in the sand! https://www.heidenautires.com/tires/motorcycle/

We used to ride our GS-twins all over the country [.GT. 100K miles] - you're gonna have some fun on that thing -- especially in WV. In fact, I'm putting new street tires on K's 650GS right now before we put it up for sale... We also took the BMW 2-day Off-Road course in Spartanburg ten years ago cause we were off-road Rookies. It was most helpful on some of our more challenging X-country rides [like in the Badlands of SD headed to the MOA rally in Salem, OR]. You're quite a ways from the rest of Virginia, but find some riding buddies thru the MOA or through your dealer! :thumb We belonged to BMWBMW for years before 'retiring' to Rocket City, USA.

Happy Trails - Ciao!
