Project bikes
I am a member of the local Antique Motorcycle Club of America chapter. So have some very knowledgeable help available. Currently working on restoring someone else's project bike a 1982 Honda Goldwing that I purchased for $100 dollars. This was a full dresser which the owner started to convert to naked. Although running when the project began the starter went south so the owner lost interest. The cheap price was because he just wanted somebody to finish it. Only reason I bought it is because he had a brand new battery, tires and Progressive shocks installed. Otherwise without knowing if it would turn over it could at least be a parts bike.
After replacing the starter we found the Honda would only run on starter fluid because the gas left in the bike had gummed up the carbs so they are being rebuilt. At least we know the bike will run after the carbs are sorted. The parts he included to replace the headlight and turn signals, which were in the fairing and bags that were removed, had no chance to work. Ebay to the rescue with some factory naked parts. I did not buy the bike to flip or to be concourse it will be ridden to our AMCA events. So I got lucky. You might not!
