ATGATT: Which brands most likely comply and why?

I just went through Zoom call hell, standing in the parking lot of Eurosport Asheville (BMW & KTM dealer) for two hours. I saw at least 20 riders come and go. Most on GS’s a couple of RT’s. All of them were fully geared up, at least 3/4’s wearing Klim jackets. Not a single squid. All the BMW riders lived up to the stereotype of fully geared up, though I was the only one with an Aerostich jacket.

My own observations, lots of BMW riders wear full gear but I've come across K1600 and RT riders with novelty helmets, T-shirts and shorts.
Do those guys have lower IQs? :p

Isn't it so much fun to ridicule people we think are inferior? Hell, it's America, let those who want to sand off their skin and break open their heads do it!

The situation reminds me of the old joke: "What is the difference between genius and stupidity? There's a limit to genius." :laugh

I believe that's actually based on an Albert Einstein quote. For me, this proves that his genius extended beyond mathematics and physics.

I looked it up and it was Einstein. He also said, ""We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them."

Yes because doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results is the mark of insanity.....:laugh

True. But I think his quote references something bigger than that, which is how you look at something and how do you define the problem and needed outcomes. Like rather than being concerned about the cup being half-full or half-empty, determining if either the cup or the contents are still necessary.

I think it has to do with the amount of risk you are willing to take, nothing more. If you are unwilling to take risk, regardless of what you ride you will gear up and vice versa

I fundamentally agree, but want to point out that there is a risk in everything, and that is especially true when riding a motorcycle. I ride ATGATT, but I realize ATGATT only mitigates certain risks involved with riding - it can not eliminate them. A helmet will prevent or reduce head injuries for many common accident scenarios so makes sense to me, but past a certain point of deceleration it is ineffective and I'm dead. Full riding suits and body armor does a great job preventing abrasion and bruises, but can't prevent broken bones or fatal body trauma from sufficient impact. I think the case is strong for ATGATT, but I don't fool myself into believing I'm "safe". I've only reduced the potential injuries from many common risks, but certainly not all. I figure I have to accept that or I should not ride, and that truth also keeps me from going overboard criticizing those who make the choice to wear less gear than I do.
