low beam bulb replacement for 2011 R1200R classic

The bulbs shown in your message attachments are car headlight bulbs, not motorcycle bulbs for your R1200R. You need an H-7 bulb.

Oops-check that. I looked at MAX BMW parts fiche and it appears your model/year does not use an H-7. Sorry!

Just looking at the fiche, and the online manual, I see your bike uses one H11 bulb for low beam, and a second one for high beam. That's why the fiche shows a required quantity of two, but the ~$25 dealer pricing is for one.

These are common automotive headlight bulbs, which is why they are typically sold in pairs. It would likely be cheaper to get a pair at an auto parts store, and have a spare, than to buy a single bulb at the dealer.

Bulbs marketed as "Extreme", "Ultra", "Plus", etc. may be brighter, but usually have shorter lives.

hi all.

My low beam died. I see here
https://shop.maxbmw.com/fiche/DiagramsMain.aspx?vid=53242&rnd=09082020
that (3) is the low beam replacement for $25 and comes in a pair

also this also fits and comes in pairs

Is the Phillips better and why do both come in pairs if it's a low beam? don't I only need one?

Thanks.

If you are in there changing a bulb, change both/all. Will save you time in the near future when fixing the issue may not be convenient.

OR, Better Yet, Upgrade to an appropriate LED Bulb! Halogens aren't noticeable enuf anymore!

Try these folks -- call them direct if you don't find an exact fit. We added them to our Airheads! Hi-Viz!!!

I just looked into replacing the incandescent H11's with LED's on a R1200R.
There is not enough room for the cooling fan that projects past the end of the LED lamp base.
You are pretty much stuck with the stock incand. lamp system.
