Gen light stays on at low and hi revs on '67 R 60

Hi All-

I have indirectly read some generator posts on this forum before but maybe not for this issue -

My generator light on my 1967 R60/US was going on at hi revs. I changed the brushes and the light went out for a 2 hour ride at all revs so it seemed to work. Then the problem started up again. I cleaned the rotor as well and no go.

Any thoughts? (FYI - I am electronically challenged)- Thanks to all.

Welcome to the forum! I will move this to the Vintage sub forum after a bit of time...

I've not fiddled much with these older systems, but it sounds like maybe the brushes are not moving easily in their holders. Or the springs that push the brushes against the slips rings are not tensioned correctly. It's possible that the regulator contacts are dirty...sliding a thin piece of paper like a business card across the contacts could clean them up.

There is booklet that describes the /2 charging system on line:

A newer version with colored diagrams is available at Bench Mark Works.

Thanks very much Kurt. New to the Forum so I'll look for the Vintage sub forum next time. Thanks also for the link. I'll check it out and post any success.

Best-
