Tank pads - difficult to keep on or remove?

Imagine these tank pads are of quality material. However, my question is, what downsides are there to their adherence? Anyone have experience using the "glue" that comes with them? Other processes used to have them adhere properly? If you want to remove them, what type of hindrance might one find? Thanks.

I have the “snakeskin” guards on two bikes. One set was applied used, as in peeled off an identical bike then applied to mine. That set is still mounted but I do notice the top edge of one pad is no longer adhering tightly, after 10 years of use. The other set was applied new in 2019 on my GS and is holding up well, with no signs of delaminating.

I’d buy them again.

Best,
DeVern
