Crazy price, here we have a 2013 R1200GS for..... $14,995!

I recall back in 2014 I was in the local Toyota store and they had this 2013 R1200GSW with 360 miles. Generally car dealerships don't want motorcycles so if they do take one they have under trade in value invested. I offered what I felt was a fair price and was all but laughed at saying "this is a very special motorcycle and rather than discount it Andy (the owner of the dealership) will keep it himself." LOL well 7 years has gone by and Andy still has it! Hopefully if you buy it for $15K Andy will put a new battery in it!

And, as I have posted before - dealers use the NADA book to buy and the KBB to sell, here is why

I guess it comes down to how badly somebody wants a "new" 8 year old GS.

This thread probably gave the dealership the most “free” advertising they have ever received.......

Well it looks and is pristine.

Not me but if a guy had a love affair with a GS of that year it would be great.

I mean if it is valued at 11950, then it is worth 14000 as new.

However a bike that has sat for 8 years needs more work then I care to give it.

I am that guy who runs the AC in the car a few times in the winter to lube the seals in the AC unit. I do start and run/ride my bike in the winter, sometimes until the fans come on! I would never buy anything that has sat for that long because of non use. And yes it is in a good environment but rubber and seals dont like to sit dry.
The above is worth what you paid for it..........

Excellent suggestion. Most of the newer vehicles seem to cycle through the A/C upon first bringing the vehicle climate control- whether one realizes it or not.

Even with the low miles it will need some work, tires for certain. I was surprised it doesn't have any more miles on it than it did when the OP first saw it. It has been sitting for seven years, what else could go wrong from sitting that long?

Just for comparison and to illustrate how the Toyota dealer is out of touch here's a 2017 GS which has numerous improvements over the first year 2013. It's better equipped, 4 model years newer, only has 2,000 more miles, and it's at a BMW dealer ready to ride, for just $1,500 more. https://www.kissellmotorsports.com/d...OwnedInventory

You seem pretty obsessed with that bike and that crazy owner

I think you need to have a heart to heart with the owner and get that thing home and on the road

I'm guessing nothing has been done with the gas and brake fluid in the last eight years.

He is a car dealer. Used car prices are up almost 50% over last year. "Why not a bike"? he thinks.

I don't know but probably a good guess.

    You're probably right, Paul.

But seriously, have any of you known of a car lot having a used car or motorcycle sitting there unsold for 7 or 8 years?
