Another '84 forks question

I am trying to figure out whether I am missing a critical part, or if Brook Reams has an extra part. Both our bikes should use the same internals according to RealOEM and Max's fiche.

Brook's is an '83 RS and mine i an '80 but with '84 forks.

The piece in question is "Damper Rod Lower Bumpers [Part# 31 42 1 241 737 INTERMEDIATE RING (09/80 to 05/81)"

As seen here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/brook-reams/19339814661/in/album-72157652666733248/

On this page of Brook's rebuild site, is where the original of that pacture is, about halfway down: https://brook.reams.me/bmw-motorcyc...eplace-fork-seals-install-slider-dust-covers/

Even Brook's caption with the part number says it's "up to '81".

And the RealOEM fiche show it greyed out for my
bike:
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=0437-USA-03-1984-2474-BMW-R_100_RS&diagId=31_0316

So can anybody who knows these particular year / model forks tell me if I need those spacers? It seems like they would make quite a difference either <needing them and not having them> , or <the other way around>.

Do I trust RealOEM and Max's fiche (also showing up to '81), or do I trust the fact that since Brook's bike had them, they must be needed?

Mystery solved

I had a PM conversation with a forum member in reply to this posting, and the gist of it is: it's a preload spacer initially intended for RT with heavier fairing, and now deprecated. So I do not need it.

Hopefully this info will help somebody else.
