Still on the fence about riding 1,000 miles with no lodging to be had.

I guess this is a much bigger deal than I realized.

Do you mean once you get there? I guess tenting is out then?

Unless they have some structurally sound poles in the beer garden upon which the Rally Overlords will permit me to hang my hammock, my signature is useless advice.

Seriously, will there be problems finding motel rooms on the road? Or is this another example of media hype?

I don't know about on the road. But I can't find anything close to the rally site.

I didn't see them in the vendors list, but will the Sherpa (they bring the fancy tent, cot, sleepting bag, etc.) people at the rally this year? That may be an option.

Not rally related, but I spent 3 hours the other day looking for a motel or camp ground site near yellowstone/grand tetons with NO success. The crowds are large this year due to last years lock down in tourist destinations.

Even the NP's are by permit only for the most part due to the crowds. I'm not surprised one bit there's little available at this point for the rally.

Prior to getting married, I never traveled with reservations. A modest tent, sleeping pad and bag are not a huge outlay, and all can be eBay’d after the rally if no further usefulness is foreseen. There are private campgrounds, BLM and NFS tent sites, and city parks where a tent can be set up along the way—some states (NM is one) have rest areas that allow overnighting.

Pack your gear and enjoy the ride and the rally!

I just booked a cabin at the GF KOA Campground. Five (5) nights less than $500. Never been to a KOA but from the looks of the amenities at this location, I have under estimated KOA in the past. You do have to use a 'family style' bath and shower since the only cabins left did not have running water. Not a big deal, flip flops and a towel pack easily.

    Does it include bedding?
