any must see stops between texas and the rally?

Having lived in CO from '06 to '15 I would suggest heading into Canon City from Pueblo and then follow CO 9 thru Hartsell (good food at the one-bar town) and Breck via Hoosier Pass. Then up thru Kremling to Walden then into WY and Laramie. Sure beats I-25 thru the metro area.

The Big Horn Mountains, Chief Jospeh Hwy, Beartooth pass. Almost any road through central Colorado. Medicine Bow Mountain. Etc,etc .Have fun.

+1 on the Big Horn Mountains, Saw 7 Moose, Plus Elk and deer just yesterday. I did the loop on HW 14 and HW16. You need to Go up from Buffalo, WY HW 14 and over. At Tensleep cut over to Graybull,Wy and up HW16 to Shell canyon falls. Then on up to Burgess Junction to HW 14A down, then make way over to Cody for Chief Jospeh HW and Beartooth. Ride safe. :thumb

Central Texas? I'm north of Austin. My favorite thing is to push hard the first day to get to Las Vegas, NM (not Nevada). That gets me to where day 2 is mountains. I work my way through Colorado towards Vernal UT and catch the Flaming Gorge. How you connect all that depends on how many days you plan on spending on the way. I like highway 550 through Durango, Silverton and Ouray and there is a nice KOA north of Ouray. From Vernal, I head towards Jackson Wy, but I'm thinking this year is not the year to go through Yellowstone, just because of the expected huge crowds. However, I do like that as a route otherwise and it does get you up to the Beartooth Highway. So either heading up or home, I'd hit the Beartooth. Also, I've got a buddy in Ten Sleep, Wy that owns a brewery with camping. So if you pass through there, consider spending a night and tell Justin I said "hi".

Kind of a rambling post, but if I'm riding solo, I tend to ramble along anyway. Those are what I had planned to hit if I were heading up, but ended up with another commitment here in Austin for a friend.
