Hi everyone, I just purchased a 2003 R1150RT with 77k. I have been wanting a BMW for 20 years. I absolutely love this motorcycle! For the last 3 years I have been riding a 1991 Honda CB750 Nighthawk, it is a fun bike but so uncomfortable after 30 minutes of riding. I am looking forward to some long rides and hopefully I can convince my wife to come too. I have a day ride this Saturday with a local group this weekend. I have done the ride in the past on my Honda and had a numb a$$ the whole way. Can't wait to do it again on the RT!

Great looking new ride and welcome from a few miles north, the Salmon River country in central ID. Hope to see you on the road.

Greetings Dad!

Hope your 'new(ish)' Beemer really floats your boat! The older Oilheads could be temperamental in their fuel-delivery, but here's hoping you have access to knowledgeable wrenches! You certainly live in a beautiful area in which to ride a comfortable Beemer!

FWIW, you may eventually want to add either an Alaskan Sheepskin saddle-cover: >> https://alaskaleather.com/collections/sheepskin-buttpads << or like myself, I prefer taxi Beads that help with air circulation and rain drainage: >> https://beadrider.com << Just my thoughts on your new comfy-rider!

Happy Travels - be safe on your 'group ride!'
We're having a wee little get-together in 6 weeks in Montana.... :whistle

Congratulations on your new BoB

It took me forty years to get my BMW in the form of a BoB (Big old BMW) but I’m comfortable with the reliability of a well maintained older German machine, so hope you will be also. I had the opportunity to visit the National Automobile Museum, when it was know a the Harrah Collection, and it went on forever, Amazing. Enjoy your ride.

Welcome monstersdad96! Lovely bikes. Thanks for posting the pics.

Was the Saturday ride everything you hoped it would be on the Beemer?

My Saturday ride was great :D. The bike was very comfortable and it handled very well. The only downside of the ride is the last 40 miles it rained pretty heavily, but I had on weatherproof gear so it wasn't too bad. I finally got to test out the grip heaters and they work great .

I got this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Z7FMTS1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I didn't end up using it and for the 250 or so miles I rode I didn't really need it. I just moved my feet to the highway pegs if my but got a little sore. I did the same ride on my old nighthawk and it was hell so I was really happy :dance!
