    Thumbs up Thanks Community!

    Alas, I feared this..

Thanks for the pointer. I was reading the content over there lightly (skimmed) before, but dug in again. I'm not sure my water pump seals are bad, but it seems I have a few signs, and maybe just a good idea anyway.

I would just go for a nice long ride before worrying about anything. The old oil didn't show signs of water contamination, right? And it was clearly old?

I have a 2002 650GS that is factory lowered and fuel injected.
It was bought for my wife who no longer rides.
I have put on Happy Trail pannier rack, soft Ortlieb bags and a custom trunk.
My main ride is an 1150RT so this one doesn't get out much.
My daughter probably has ridden it more than my wife.
It has been up Mt. Washington twice.
If you are interested let me know and I will send pictures or answers.
I don't know mileage off hand, as I am at work.

Went for a nice long ride on Friday. after about ~3 hours the oil was not frothy, but did have teeny tiny bubbles you could just barely see. I am not sure if the oil itself is also brown, or just appears because of said tiny bubbles.

I read up on changing out the seals on the water pump and honestly doesn't seem like a bad project (outside of the first 73 steps to drain oil on an old GS, lol).

But my brother is also threatening to buy it off me (one test ride was all it took!) so I'm going to hold off until he decides.

Really appreciate all the experience and perspective shared here!
