    Fire...

Just a cool pic I thought I would share. First start of my '84 RT after rebuild:

    Nice that it's running- again.

I'm trying to remember an old warning about running without exhaust connected. Something about a "cooling" differential maybe?..... Been a while.

I believe the theory was not to run with exposed exhaust ports very long as they would cool too quickly and potentially warp being exposed to the atmosphere when shut off. Having at least the headers hooked up allow more heat to be retained in the system allowing for a progressive cooling.

    Warped Exhaust Valves

I recall the same warning, of potential for warping the exhaust valves.

I don't recall how long I ran it... probably not long as she was still on the lift.

I've since sold her but last word was she was still chugging along approaching 200K. I said I rebuilt it... that was the plan but after full inspection all that was truly needed were cam followers and seals/gaskets. Crosshatching still looked fresh at 175K. Amazing.

    I would assume

I would assume this picture was a one time shot, LOL, I would think the neighbors would get the shot guns out for all the noise. Cool picture. St.

I'm sure it's probably not a good idea to run without headers, I don't think you hurt anything, it is a cool photo.
