Hello to all. Finally posting. This is my fourth BMW and second R1200R (shouldn't have sold the first one). I've also owned a K1200RS, R1100R and several Hondas before that. Been riding most of my adult life.

 
Welcome to the forum! I've heard of Yucaipa, never new where it was...on the cusp of the mountains, I see. How's the riding into the San Bernardino Mountains up to Big Bear Lake? Looks awesome on the map!
 
A very solid choice for touring great California roads like Route 49,
always on my list when I visit the 'Rents up north of Sacramento.

Hwy 243 though Idlewild and back down through Palm Desert (Palms to Pines Hwy) is another excellent road.
