I finally picked a color, got some paint on it and started to reassemble. 1955 R 50 in period correct Police Green. The steel rims are painted, laced and sent out to be properly trued. I have also acquired several correct and very rare (early '55) parts that will make the long process rewarding.

Trinkets of progress

Pin stripe done, wheels done and front shocks assembled. Ready to install the main wire harness, its more of challenge for me due to color blindness. I'll have to smoke test a few circuits.
I'm hoping to take the first test ride sometime in Feb.

You ought to enlist the aid of a three year old to tell you the color of the wires. Our three year old grandaughter is quite adept at identifying colors and anxious to display her skills.

The bike is going to look gorgeous!

Coming down to the wire here

I have been hard at work and just plain ole neglected the posting pictures part of this project. I still have lots of work to do to make it a complete and correct representation of an early '55 R 50 but the bulk of it has been done. I've got the small coffee can tail light and had some rounded front shock covers made for it but they may not be ready to install because they need paint. FUN FUN STRESS STRESS STRESS

Oh yeh I almost forgot

I'm still searching for the small head light brackets but have a set of later ones that I can alter (hopefully) to look like the early ones. Gotta send the speedometer out for a refresh, install the new mufflers when they get here, install the correct center stand when its painted and a few other things. I had to use an R 60 (35/11) final drive for now because the original (32/11) needs a little repair work and I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
