gen light stays on

I wrote a while ago about this ... most solutions were about the diode board being amiss. Actual problem was the rotor seal was leaking, causing the rotor slip rings to become covered with an oil film, cutting the electrical output. This is something else to consider if you run across the same problem that I had with the gen light staying on.

How 'bout 1 week after replacement the light begins to flicker again.
"A quick check under the hood" reveals the slip rings streaked black.
Apparently,the brushes are/were conforming to the new rotor.....a quick rubbing on the slip rings with a pencil eraser and all is well!
