Thanks Voni

This is such an horrific event, it is hard to know what to say.

Sending my thoughts and prayers to Gabrielle Giffords for a speedy recovery.

This morning, KNX (the L.A. news station) said that the doctors are keeping her in an induced coma.:(

This would be terrible news, regardless of who was shot, but having it be one of the rare legislators that understands and supports motorcycling just makes it all the worse.

Healing prayers for all the injured and for the family and friends of all those both killed and injured.

I just can not understand what would possess someone to take another life over a different viewpoint, not to mention killing yesterday's innocent bystanders. I hope that everyone affected by yesterday's senseless shooting gets through this. My thoughts go out to the families of those who died.

Sure hope she gets well. Here's a pic of Giffords with an airhead:

And not just any airhead, Her airhead from what a local club member posted based on an interview he did with her a few years ago. Way cool on the airhead ownership, the rest is just way too sad...the fact she still with us considering the head wound is pretty increasable. I wish her all the best on a full recovery.

New said this morning that she is able to respond to verbal commands which is great news. :clap

Based upon the trajectory, she may have problems with speaking, understanding speech, vision, and control of the right side of her body. It is very possible that she may never be able to ride again. I certainly hope that is not the case, but certainly possible.

Thanks!

My first time on The Distaff thread, and I find this. Damn! Thanks for letting us know about this aspect Rep. Gifford's resume. For everybody viewing this site, losing the freedom attendant to riding just plain sucks, so this story is now even sadder than before (if that's possible).

We all wish her a speedy recovery (looking pretty good at this point). If her balance is impaired, maybe driving a sidecar rig is in her future???? Southern AZ 3-wheelers unite! Excellent rehab for this feisty woman.

My experience with giving (3-wheel) rides to those who are not able to ride on two wheels (age, or other impairments) has been very rewarding, and - depending on how wide the bar-code for the risk gene of the passenger is. . .it can be a VERY thrilling experience, indeed.

We soldier on.

Balance problems can be overcome, I know because I suffered a total loss of my right nerve feeding both sound and balance from my right ear. It took me a week to be able to stand, three to handle stairs, several months to walk in a semi straight fashion (without looking like I was drunk) or not ÔÇ£over turningÔÇØ corners in halls and walking into walls.
Then practice on a pedal bike and finally a motorcycle after about 6 months. Not as fast I once was on two wheels and it takes more effort and lots of balance exercises but I CAN ride again.
If that is all she winds up having to deal with, she will be even more than lucky!

Again wishing her all the best!
