Personally I think there is enough interest in creating a sidecar forum.
Regardless, what do you my fellow riders think?
I've seen a few good threads spread out amongst the board.
Two good ones active right now.

The most awesomist one: The Oasis of my Soul is coming to us from a hack...

...and this current one here.

Placement/location is up to the ModSquad...

It all depends on traffic. If enough folks say they want to see it happen then it will. Keep posting questions and getting answers.

Great idea. Would be a great place for those who want to learn more about sidecars.

If a forum can be created for a single bike why not for a whole genre.

I hope this flies.

Made for Sidecar

So many of the /2s were made for sidecar. They also made about the right power for a sidecar. Later models made the kind of power that would get you in deep trouble with a sidecar. DAHIK:brow

why not?

bmw's are very popular sidecar candidates, so we should.

will i ever read it? :whistle

but i bet we have interest there.

ps => my brilliant idea over scotch and cigars at the Chicken Rally: a dual sport trike. big honking knobbies. one could mow over anything with that. :nod

I just picked up an OLD Bingham sidecar about two weeks ago ... so old, it was before he started using the SideStrider name. I was thinking about strapping it onto my 73 R75/5, but have since decided not to. At least not my trusty, owned-it-since-it-came-out-of-the-box Euro bar /5.... I have a spare /5 frame that I've started collecting parts for.

I called SS and talked to Doug, he sent me, literally, every bit of information that he had on this old chair; exploded parts drawing with part numbers, old advertising brochures, etc.

No suspension, 12" automotive wheel, and that's about it... a 650 would be the perfect tug for it, but it's so light that a 450 wouldn't have that much trouble with it (up hill might be a bit slow).

Ural already has it and with power to the third wheel. But we know where Ural got the design. :laugh

It would be a great place for people to network and learn.

Maybe Hubert would show.

Great idea!
In which type of racing has BMW had the most success?
Sidecars of course!
Like someone else mentionned...If you can have a forum for a specific model, why not sidecars?
Once you go hack...you never go back!

There's been an increase in 3-wheel vehicle registration here in (Pa.) to warrant the new MSF 3-wheel BBC course next year.

Where hasn't Google Been!?

What would be great is if BMW went back to sidecar support.

As most of you know it went away with the intro/redesign to the /5 series.
Imagine a 2 wheel drive GS.
Bring along 75 gallons of gas transferred by pump.
Prudhoe to Seattle Non-Stop. (I'm kidding, it would weigh 450 pounds!)

numbers?

Grafikfeat...
Any idea what sort of numbers are required for us to get our own forum?
Any idea of numbers of MOA members with sidecars?
Do you think there are more sidecar owners or S1000RR owners in the MOA?
